To Kill a Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic novel turned film about racism and justice in a fictional town of Alabama in the 1930s. The film follows a family of two young children, Scout and Jem, and their father, Atticus. The father is a lawyer in the town and is chosen to represent a black man who is accused of raping a white girl. Atticus and the children are harassed for their father serving this black man, and the children are eventually even attacked. Even with the father’s efforts to prove his client’s innocence, he is found guilty and ultimately killed by a deputy who claims he was trying to escape during transport. This story and film were ahead of their time as they address major social issues of racism and the justice system that are still prevalent today. This film will continue to be remembered and enjoyed for future years to come.
