The Tau Ceti Sunset Drink
The Tau Ceti Sunset Drink

An intoxicating blend that starts with the pitch-black void of deep space and settles into a glowing, alien gold. It pays homage to Ryland Grace’s journey across the cosmos, the miraculous bioluminescence of Astrophage, and the warm, musical-chord friendship of Rocky the Eridian.

📋 Ingredients

  • 2 oz Empress 1908 Indigo Gin (or any pea-flower infused gin for that cosmic, deep-space purple)
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice (the catalytic agent—adds bright acidity)
  • 0.75 oz Honey-Ginger Syrup (warm, earthy, and sweet; a nod to Rocky’s organic xenonite home and high-gravity warmth)
  • 2 oz Club Soda or Tonic Water (chilled space fizz)
  • Garnish: Edible gold glitter/luster dust & a dehydrated lemon wheel pinned with a rosemary sprig

🛠️ Mixology Instructions (The Science)

  1. The Core Fuel: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the honey-ginger syrup and fresh lemon juice.
  2. First Contact: Shake vigorously for 15 seconds until chilled.
  3. Primary Hull: Strain the lemon-ginger mix over fresh ice into a highball or Collins glass. Top off with the club soda.
  4. The Astrophage Reaction: Slowly float the Empress Indigo Gin over the top using the back of a bar spoon. Watch as the acid in the lemon juice turns the deep space indigo into a glowing, radiant magenta/violet gradient at the interface!
  5. The Rocky Sparkle: Stir in a tiny pinch of edible gold luster dust—when the light hits the glass, it creates a swirling solar flare effect inside the cocktail.
  6. Final Trim: Garnish with a dehydrated lemon wheel and a sprig of rosemary (resembling a tiny communication array).

💬 Tasting Notes & On-Air Toast

“A crisp, citrus-forward gin fizz with a fiery ginger kick that warms you up faster than a pair of kamet engines. As the colors shift in your glass, remember: survival takes science, friendship takes patience, and deep space requires a damn good cocktail.”

The Official Toast: “Aaaaaand science! Fist bump.” 🎵🪨🚀

All that JAZZ

Are you a fan of Jazz? Then you are in luck with this delicious drink for the summer. It will take you down the road to music and movies then spin you back around to find the right take on your favorite movie. So let’s look at the incredible film, “All that Jazz.”

All That Jazz is a 1979 American musical drama film directed by Bob Fosse. The screenplay, by Robert Alan Aurthur and Fosse, is a semi-autobiographical adventure based on aspects of Fosse’s life and career as a dancer, choreographer, and director.

The movie is about Joe Gideon, a theater director and choreographer trying to balance his career during his latest Broadway musical while editing a Hollywood film he has directing. According to Wikipedia, “He is a workaholic who chain-smokes cigarettes; without a daily dose of Vivaldi, Visine, Alka-Seltzer, Dexedrine, and sex, he wouldn’t have the energy to keep up the biggest “show” of all—his life. His girlfriend Katie Jagger, his ex-wife Audrey Paris, and daughter Michelle try to pull him back from the brink, but it is too late for his exhausted body and stress-ravaged heart. In his imagination, he flirts with an angel of death named Angelique.”

You can be the judge of it, and why not enjoy a drink with it.

Lime in DA Coconut

After making a trip to the British Virgin Islands, we thought it might be great to add a special drink that we tasted in the islands. It’s both refreshing, and of course, it has a little extra kick due to a large amount of rum inside this particular drink. You can serve frozen or on the rocks!!! Plus you might want to listen to this song while you are making them.

  • 1.5 oz Coconut Rum
  • 2 oz Rose’s Lime Juice
  • 1 oz Coco Lopez
  • 1/2 slice of lime (Blended if frozen)
  • Splash of Sprite
  • Top with 1 oz of Dark Rum on Top
  • Slice of Lime Garnish

Add all ingredients into a glass and enjoy with your favorite friends while watching Cocktail.

You don’t have to live in the south to love this cooler; it’s good any place that you might want to drink it. The Hillybilly Buttkicker has a little extra kick to it, so you might want to turn on the TV and put a good movie into the DVD player so that you don’t need to worry about anything the rest of the evening. Be careful because this drink has some extra pop to it, and we don’t want you to lose the remote control.
